Wall, cassette or ducted? Choosing the right indoor unit

Most of the performance of an air conditioning system comes from correct sizing. Most of the satisfaction comes from picking the right indoor unit for the room.

Wall-mounted units are the workhorse. Cheapest to install, easiest to service, very quiet, and available in slim modern finishes. Ideal for bedrooms, home offices and small retail spaces.

Ceiling cassettes sit flush in a suspended ceiling and blow air in four directions. They disappear visually and cover large open areas evenly, which is why they dominate offices, salons and restaurants.

Ducted units hide entirely in a loft or ceiling void, feeding several rooms through discreet grilles. They are the premium option for whole-house installs where you want no visible box at all, but they need planning early, ideally during a renovation.

Floor-standing units suit conservatories and rooms with tall glazing or no usable wall space, delivering warm air low down where it is most effective in winter.
